The Why
We owe our existence, in part, to the fact that many people do not get to share their story throughout their job search. This inspired us not only to create Jobfair®, but to create a new approach to the screening process for our own internal hires.
For quite some time, the human touch has been absent from the beginning of the hiring process at most companies. On average, roughly 95% of applicants are eliminated from the process based on their resume alone. The truth is, people are so much more than their resume. And for early stage talent, it can actually be quite difficult to differentiate between applicants based on a resume alone. Large language models (LLMs) have made this even more difficult.
SparkHire, HireVue and other screening platforms let candidates add a video response to their application. As the person who is typing this can attest, these are not fun. Nobody wants to feel judged, and recording a video of yourself is simply a bridge too far. Why should a recruiter or hiring manager get to know what you look like before deciding whether to speak with you?
We don't think they should, and that's why we use an audio pre-interview for a number of our roles, rather than video. Here's how it works.
Human Review
Every pre-interview that we receive is reviewed by a real person, and scored according to a rubric. It does not undergo any AI or machine learning evaluation.
Responsible Data Handling
We use your audio pre-interview for the sole purpose of evaluating your application for one of our open roles. If you are not selected to move forward, your response is deleted from our servers within ten days of our decision.
100% Privacy
Throughout the entire process, your audio is never associated with your identity. It is evaluated separate from your resume, and none of our team members know who they're listening to.
